Born and raised in the country outside of Edmonton, Alberta, Ashley is a girl who has a taste to see and explore the world. Her humble upbringing has shaped who she is today, a very kind, compassionate and hardworking individual. She believes maintaining a great attitude and a sense of humour is the key to success.

Since Ashley was a young girl she has expressed her interest in the beauty industry. Name one person, other than your parents, who has had the most influence on your life. Why?

I believe that every friend and family member has touched my life in some special way. If I had to choose it would be one of my close friends because he is a very smart, educated, and successful person. He gave me great advice about not only life in general but business. He opened up my perspective to all the possibilities and encouraged me endlessly to believe in my potential.

What is your proudest personal accomplishment (other than participating in this pageant)?

My proudest personal accomplishment would have to be overcoming shyness and social anxiety. I was very timid when I was a child up until I was a teen. I felt like I didn’t fit in and was ostracized by my peers. I had no confidence until I moved away at 19 and living alone while going to college. Slowly I became a stronger, confident person as I learned to take care of myself while navigating a new city and meeting new people. Now I truly believe anything is possible.

What is the most interesting or unique thing that has ever happened to you and/or what is the most interesting thing about you?

I have this comedic side to my personality that people don’t expect!
Whenever I meet someone I always get the “I know someone who looks exactly like you” or the “You look like this celebrity…”

What is your career ambition and what are you doing or plan to do to accomplish that goal?

I’m very happy in my current career however I have a growing interest in the television and media industry. Currently, I am taking classes with an introduction to broadcast and I’ve previously taken on-camera presentation and production classes.

What would be your “dream job” in life?

My dream job would be traveling the world, writing and reporting on what I see and experience. Also, holding the title of Miss Universe Canada would be my “dream job” as I could empower and help others in need to realize their potential.

Describe where you were raised and what your childhood was like.

I was born in a small city of 15,000 people and raised in the country where my parents were grain farmers and I rode horses. I had a very active, outdoorsy, and happy childhood with my two loving parents and brother. Most of my time was spent riding bikes, playing with animals and jumping on the trampoline! I am pretty grateful for the easy going and care free upbringing I had.

I travelled through Italy, Greece, and Turkey for 3 weeks. I fell in love with the diverse, rich culture and breathtaking architecture. I also had the opportunity to travel with students from the states and create some lasting friendships. I would have to say the most interesting place on my visit was the ancient city of Pompeii, Italy that was once buried under ash from a volcano eruption!

What do you hope to be doing in ten years?

I hope to be successful and established in a media career. I also hope to be settled down and married to a great husband with kids.

Is there anything you would like to add that we haven’t asked?

I think that Miss Universe Canada is a wonderful opportunity for young women to have a voice and become a role model for others. I hope to promote healthy self-image and that beauty is more than skin deep, it radiates from the inside out!
