Nicole Lacz

NICOLE LACZHeight: 6’1″
Hometown: Milton, ON

My name is Nicole Lacz and I am a 25 year old woman looking to fulfill my dream as Miss Universe Canada. I enjoy the summers in Ontario, as I take advantage of them by going swimming in the various great lakes, spending time in the beautiful rural areas, hiking, yoga, and tanning. I love the sun. I believe you don’t need coffee or an energy drink of some sort when you have the sun. Vitamin D is vital to fulfil ones virtue. As Aristotle said, “Happiness is virtue.” I agree with his words completely. Therefore, I would also have to say that I am very interested in political philosophy as well as Canadian politics in general. As a University of Guelph graduate, I am interested in participating in many outreach programs. I have a strong opinion on what should and should not be in all scenarios. I am interested in women’s rights, as well as gender equality in the workforce.

I have a strong Polish culture, which I am interested in prolonging to future generations in my family life. I speak fluent Polish, and wish to learn German (in representation of my birth country). My goal is to travel to all around the world, as sight seeing and adventure, are two things that take great value in my life.

On my spare time I take part in many sporting activities, as I believe it is a necessity to be active throughout life. Going to the gym is a great way to release all stress and allows me to think through situations. It provides a calming effect on me, while releasing all aggravation, if there is any present. However, keeping physically fit also provides a satisfying sensation. For all these reasons going to the gym is a strong interest of mine.

The most interesting thing that has ever happened to me was in the Bahamas about four years ago. I was swimming in the ocean and I felt something hit my leg. It made me so nervous. In fact, I thought my life was in danger. When all of a sudden a dolphin came up. I actually got to swim in the ocean with a wild dolphin. Its an experience of a life time. Truly shows how amazing and eventful the world we live in is.

Describe where you were raised and what your childhood was like.

I was born in Rinteln, Germany, where I lived for the first two years of my life. When my parents were ready, we made a move to the best nation of all, Canada! I am a proud Canadian citizen. Growing up in a family of four (my parents and my one sister), we began our lives in Mississauga. Moving into a new area, where nothing was built around our home, we transferred from one elementary school to the other various times. In total I went to 7 elementary schools. That being said, I was always the new girl in school. Making new friends all the time became a frequent task. It made me the social and outgoing person I am.

List any interesting or unusual jobs you may have had.

In my last year of high school, I was nominated as a grade 9 applied geography teacher for the final semester in replacement of a teacher. I taught geography to students only 3 years younger then myself. It was a fantastic experience.

List any volunteering you have done.

I volunteered for various organizations a previous title holder. I have participated in the terry fox run in Toronto, AIDs run, CN tower stair climb for United Way, as well as participated in many Sick Kids charity events.

What is your most unusual talent?

My most unusual talent is being able to recall someone by what they were wearing on a specific day years ago. I have the ability to go back to that day and explain exactly what an individual was wearing that morning or evening in order to remember who that person is or what happened that day.

Where is the most interesting place you have been to?

The most interesting place I have ever been too would have to be in the Mountains of Albania- where we hiked up a large mountain to a cave at the very top. The cave has been there for centuries and has been explored by people all over the world as one of the largest caves existant.

What do you hope to be doing in ten years?

In ten years I hope to have a stable career and a family of my own. I am very family orientated and hope to have children and a husband of my own to share my life with.

Is there anything you would like to add that we haven’t asked?

I would like to tell you about the three most important people in my life. My mother’s name is Aleksandra Mokrzycka Lacz. She grew up in Poland, where she was raised on a farm, living with two brothers and four sisters. As a woman living in a small town she stood up for what she believed in and fulfilled her dream in carrying out the rest of her life in the big city of Krakow. For that I idolize her. She wanted to get away from the small town of little opportunity and through a school scholarship she attended a college in the city to do what she loves most, nursing. She then met my dad and they decided to travel the world together and finally decided to stay within Canada. She is now a successful registered nurse, who works in the ER of Trillium Hospital, Mississauga. For all she accomplished, being a small town girl is astonished and for that I idolize her.

Secondly, my father is an assertive man, who will not take “no” for an answer. He achieves his goals whether the obstacles are big or small. He rose to become a strong woman, who should never put herself down, even in the most intense situations. For that I would like to thank him. To me he is an icon, symbolizing the ideal father.

Lastly, I have one sibling, who is a nineteen year old young lady, currently attending dental private college, in Mississauga. She is an athletic individual who performs in the arts as well as within a school basketball team, both for her school and outside for a regional team. I am proud of her for her success in time management as well as flexibility, being able to adapt to all changes made in her schedule.
