Raman Basi is a motivated, ambitious entrepreneur and philanthropist.

She graduated this year with a Bachelor of Nonprofit Studies Management and has been hired by many non-profit organizations in Calgary to share her skills to help raise money for a variety of causes.

In addition to graduating, she is in the process of conducting market research for a new turn -key business venture.

She also plans to start her graduate studies in a Master of Business Administration in the upcoming year. “If you can perceive it, believe it, you can do it.”

Politics, Advocacy, Studying Culture and Society, Competing in Business Presentations and Networking

Cheerleading and Karate

Name one person, other than your parents, who has had the most influence on your life. Why? 

My partner who feels that no dream or goal is too far from reaching; and is always supporting me through the highs and lows of accomplishing those goals.

What is your proudest personal accomplishment (other than participating in this pageant)? 

Finishing university and now moving on to pursue further graduate studies in a Master of Business Administration.

What is the most interesting or unique thing that has ever happened to you and/or what is the most interesting thing about you? 

I won Miss India Canada – Miss Congeniality 2010.  This award was judged by the other girls in the competition and therefore was very meaningful.

What is your career ambition and what are you doing or plan to do to accomplish that goal? 

My career ambition is to become a successful entrepreneur and professional fundraiser.

What would be your “dream job” in life?

To have many successful businesses that could then further contribute back to the non-profit sector.

Describe where you were raised and what your childhood was like.

I was raised in a community that is now known as the lowest income per household quadrant in the city and hence the poorest community in the city.

Working at an Indian Boutique that still sold many of their products under a bartering system.

Organizations that focus on the rehabilitation of women who have been subject to domestic abuse and sexual exploitation.

Making people feel comfortable.

What do you hope to be doing in ten years?

Be retired because all my business ventures will be very successful.
