Robyn Digeur

21 | Height: 5’7″
Hometown: Sudbury, ON

Robyn Diguer was born and raised in the small community of Espanola, Ontario. She is a General Business Graduate from Cambrian College.

Her goal is to specialize in Marketing so she can further enhance the skills needed to become an Event Planner. Because she is a creative, outgoing and organized individual and enjoys working with people, she possesses the skills required to be a very successful Event Planner. She is ambitious and coupled with her go-getter kind of attitude and focus; she could be a great asset to any organization.

Robyn loves spending time with friends and family, volunteering for the “Angels In Pink”, travelling, going to camp, going to concerts and of course, shopping.

Her favourite quote is by Dr. Seuss, “Today you are you, that is truer than true, there is no one alive who is youer than you”. This is a good message for young individuals who are having a difficult time trying to figure out who they are or who they want to be. You are an individual; there is no one else like you in this entire world. Every single person is different and special in their own way.

If Robyn wins the title of Miss Universe Canada 2013, she will enjoy spending her time working with different charities all over the world. She loves to help people, especially children and is pleased that Miss Universe Canada sponsors charities such as S.O.S. Children’s Villages and Operation Smile.

Robyn also has a passion to teach young adults that it’s okay to be different and to be yourself no matter what. Confidence is beauty. Holding this crown may offer opportunities to reach them in some capacity.

What are your interests and what do you enjoy doing the most?

I enjoy spending time with friends and family, travelling, volunteering for the Angels In Pink, going to camp, and pretty much anything that involves being around people.

List any special training you have had (music, art, drama, dance, etc.)

I have taken piano lessons for a number of years, and played trumpet and saxophone in music class at school. I have also enjoyed a modeling class at the Gauvreau School of Performing Arts, at a younger age.

In what sports, if any, have you participated?

In previous years I have played basketball, soccer, baseball and been a competitor in long and high jump in track and field.

Name one person, other than your parents, who has had the most influence on your life. Why?

Jackie Greene, who is a long- time family friend. I have known her since I was a little girl and even used to babysit her son Aaron. She has been through a lot these past few years but always manages to have a big smile on her face. She is always there to help any of her friends and family even though she has a lot going on in her own life. I would definitely say that Jackie is one of my greatest role models.

What is your proudest personal accomplishment (other than participating in this pageant)?

As a young adult I was very shy but in the past four years I have grown so much. I moved out on my own to a new city and began college at 18 years old while working at two different jobs. I became involved in different activities such as volunteering for organizations and then pageants, all on my own. They have helped me to come out of my shell and be myself. I have so much more confidence and ambition now because of the challenges I have overcome and am so proud of myself for going for it.

What is the most interesting or unique thing that has ever happened to you and/or what is the most interesting thing about you?

I think that the most interesting thing that has ever happened to me is being chosen as a contender for Miss Universe Canada! I am so looking forward to participating in every one of the events.  Something unique about me is that I love my hair a lot and I accept that it is my security blanket. Someday, I want to cut it off to help Cancer patients.

What is your career ambition and what are you doing or plan to do to accomplish that goal?

My career ambition is to be an Event Planner in the Sudbury and surrounding area. I am currently working as a mall receptionist and hope to save up enough money to take the specialized courses to become the best Event Planner that I can be. I also hope to buy my own home.

What would be your “dream job” in life?

My dream job is to be an Event Planner, more specifically a Wedding Planner. Ever since I can remember I have been obsessed with going to weddings, watching weddings in movies and on television, and watching “Say Yes To The Dress” and “Four Weddings” on TLC.

Are you currently a student?

No. I graduated from Cambrian College with a General Business Diploma.

Are you currently employed?

If yes, what is your occupation?

Receptionist at the Rainbow Center Mall in Sudbury.

Describe where you were raised and what your childhood was like.

I was raised in a small town in a Christian home. I went to church every Sunday and was always involved in some type of activity whether it was Girl Guides, Sports, or having a part time job after school. I grew up with very loving and family oriented parents. We took trips every summer and have travelled to many parts of Canada, the US, and Florida multiple times. I am very blessed to have my family and be cared for and supported as much as I am. I am especially grateful for my mother, without her a lot of what I have accomplished would not have been possible.

List any interesting or unusual jobs you may have had.

Working in a grocery store as a high school student was not too interesting but the seafood department was unusual for me. I learned a lot about varieties of fish and seafood and how heavy hauling ice back and forth to fill and clean the display counters can be.

List any volunteering you have done.

I volunteer for a group called the “Angels In Pink”. They are a special group who raise money for Breast Cancer screening equipment for the Sudbury Regional Hospital.  They do so by hosting events such as the Boob Tour, an annual Pink Glove Party, selling t-shirts, pins, etc.

I have also volunteered my time at the Sudbury Soup Kitchen at Elgin Street Missions.

What is your most unusual talent?

Even though I have a hard time remembering names, I’m really good with faces.

I also remember general statements people make that they don’t expect anyone to remember, such as, something they really want to do or something they really enjoy. I try to pay attention to what people are trying to say.

Where is the most interesting place you have been to?

Banff, Alberta.  It is so beautiful there in the mountains.  While I was there I went on a hike through the mountains and adventured through caves with my family. I also got to see the breath taking “Lake Louise.”

What do you hope to be doing in ten years?

In ten years I hope to have found my dream job here in Sudbury. I would also like to be married to the one I love, own a house and be travelling the world on my down time during the winter.

Is there anything you would like to add that we haven’t asked?

I am a very honest person, sometimes too honest. I often find myself telling people my life story when I was only trying to answer a simple question.

I really like to keep a smile on my face. I figure that if you see somebody without a smile, give them one of yours.
