Q&A

What are your interests and what do you enjoy doing the most?

I love figure skating. I dedicate most of my time to this sport. My love for figure skating led me to be a professional coach. When I’m not on the ice, I’m with my friends or my family. Family is very important to me so I like spending as much time as possible with them. I love visiting new places, trying new restaurants, and learn different cultures. Even where I live, there is always something new to discover and activities to do. I am very grateful for what I have, and I think everyone should try to stay positive in life to enjoy it!

List any special training you have had (music, art, drama, dance, etc.)

I have been skating for over 15 years. Alongside my studies, I also did classical ballet. This sport is so gracious and it makes me feel free. Now I like taking country dance lessons.

In what sports, if any, have you participated?

As I mentioned, I do figure skating. This is one of the most demanding sports in the world. I feel so blessed to have once been a high-level athlete. This sport learned to be strong, even in the most difficult moments of my life. I am now honored to teach this sport since now 6 years.

Name one person, other than your parents, who has had the most influence on your life. Why?

My grandfather is a source of determination and strength for me. He was a police chief, so he had to be strong since he had the responsibility to maintain peace, order, and security in my town. He has always been proud of me and he has always supported me in my decisions. When I need advice, I know I can count on him.

What is your proudest personal accomplishment (other than participating in this pageant)?

I have been extremely lucky to achieve many accomplishments in my life. Currently, my proudest accomplishment is to have completed my university program along with my two scholarships for my good academic performance and community engagement. I am also proud to run a company since the age of 17. I am very grateful for what life brings me every day.

What is the most interesting or unique thing that has ever happened to you and/or what is the most interesting thing about you?

I have a rather funny story to tell you. I get frequently ask if I am the actress of the movie ‘’Le Fabuleux Destin d’Amélie Poulain”. Indeed, the main character has the same name as me. People also easily remember my name because of the movie. This movie has won many awards since it was released in 2001. I find it funny that this film uses my name.

What is your career ambition and what are you doing or plan to do to accomplish that goal?

My career ambition is to become a TV host. In fact, my bachelor’s degree in Communication brings me a lot of opportunities. I would like to focus on something that helps people. I am often told that I am a model for young people, so it’s certain that I would like to continue giving conferences on perseverance. I like finance, so it would not be surprising if I owned a second business. For the moment, I have a lot of projects going on so I can’t wait to see what the future has in store for me. Life is full of surprises!

What would be your “dream job” in life?

I think I already have my dream job. Every time I coach figure skating, I feel so blessed. I love showing my passion. I don’t even count the hours that I spend preparing the trainings of my students. Eventually, I would like to continue working at the radio. Owning a talk show on the radio would be amazing.

Describe where you were raised and what your childhood was like.

I was raised by my wonderful parents in East Angus, Quebec. East Angus is a small village near Sherbrooke. In my town, we all know each other. I am very lucky to have my friends since early childhood. They always supported me.

In my childhood, I spent my evenings at the rink for my figure skating lessons. This is probably the best gift my family has given me. I became a determined woman through this sport.

I am truly blessed to have a united and loving family who allows me to stay humble and genuine. We only have one rule at home: give the best of us.

My childhood was really amazing. Never forget where you come from!

List any interesting or unusual jobs you may have had.

My most interesting job I’ve had so far is certainly the animation of a radio talk show. This allowed me to deepen my passion for the media and, more specifically to appreciate even more being in contact with other people. It was a great experience that led me to work for the biggest radio station in Quebec.

List any volunteering you have done.

  • Communications administrator at the “Jeux du Québec”
  • In charge of organizing a figure skating show (choreography, costumes, animation)
  • Host of the Sherbrooke Games
  • Volunteering for a community organization dedicated to people with Down’s syndrome

What is your most unusual talent?

I am very cheesy. I like to give a second life to those objects by making them more modern. I like to throw a little glitter here and there. Shiny things are my thing!

Where is the most interesting place you have been to?

The most interesting place I have been to is the one that made me think the most. A few years ago, I visited a village in Pennsylvania where many Amish are established. The Amish are known for simple living, plain dress, and reluctance to adopt many conveniences of modern technology. Although we live in a society of consummation, it’s gratifying to see that there are still people who are not influenced by the rest of the world.

What do you hope to be doing in ten years?

In 10 years, I see myself healthy and surrounded by those I love. I wish to have a balanced life. I would like to have an exciting job yet stable that would lead me to push myself every day and to give the best of myself.

Is there anything you would like to add that we haven’t asked?

My participation in this pageant is an opportunity for me to prove that everything is possible, even our wildest dreams! Even though I seem to be confident for some, it is difficult for me to get out of my comfort zone. I am very grateful to participate in the Miss Universe Canada pageant.
