Sarah Hansen is a 22-year-old Canadian woman, born and raised in Windsor-Essex County. Sarah’s passion for pageantry began in 2015 when she competed in the local Miss Tecumseh pageant. Through her experiences in the Miss Tecumseh pageant, she realized and further developed many personal qualities she never knew she had. Sarah believes pageantry has helped to shape her into the brave, outgoing and hardworking person she is today.

Sarah graduated with great distinction from the Bachelors of Science in Nursing (BScN) program at the University of Windsor last June. For one year, Sarah has served her community by working as a registered nurse in the Emergency Department at a local hospital. She feels blessed to be able to use her knowledge, skills and compassionate attitude to care for people in their sickest and most frightening moments. One of the best lessons Sarah has learned from being an ER nurse is how to remain calm in the midst of a storm.

Sarah is privileged to have been born into a big, beautiful and supportive family. With 20 aunts and uncles and over 30 first cousins, there was never a dull moment growing up. Sarah spent most of her childhood outdoors camping, playing sports and making amazing memories that will last her a lifetime. When Sarah was a child she was very shy and introverted. This all changed when she developed her love of music and performing.

Sarah started learning to play guitar in the sixth grade, and by grade eight she was performing at every assembly and event she could. She loves taking current songs and using her artistic skills to make them her own. Using only her voice and an acoustic guitar, Sarah can take a popular song, put a spin on it, and make you feel like you are hearing it for the first time. She has carried this hobby with her throughout her life, winning vocal achievement awards in high school and Miss Talent in the 2016 Miss Tecumseh pageant. Sarah is proud of what she has accomplished musically and can’t wait to see where else her voice will take her.

Sarah lives each day by the motto, “Life is short so live life to the fullest.” Through her work as an Emergency Room nurse, Sarah has witnessed how quickly life can change without warning. She knows how important it is to take advantage of each opportunity and spend time doing what she loves. She hopes that when she reaches the end of her lifetime, she will not have any items left uncrossed on her bucket list. Instead, she hopes to cross off each item as soon as it appears. Sarah has lived up to this goal, especially in 2019. From seeing her first Broadway show in NYC to travelling to Los Angeles with her best friends, this year has been nothing short of an adventure. The next thing she hopes to cross off her list is competing in a national pageant and giving it her all!

If chosen as Miss Universe Canada, Sarah would use her title to spread positivity and support important causes. Her main goal is to use her voice and her knowledge of healthcare to promote women’s health. She hopes that by combining her two passions, pageantry and healthcare, she could really make a difference in the lives of women across Canada.
