Alexandra Zhang Denkovski, a unique blend of Chinese and Serbian heritage, was born in the bustling city of Toronto. Raised by her immigrant grandmother alongside her younger sister, Alexandra faced numerous challenges in her early life due to the absence of a traditional parental presence. Dance, music, and drawing have always been the cornerstones of Alexandra’s identity. With 16 years of professional dance experience under her belt, she excelled in competitive ballet from a young age. Her musical talents shone through as she completed an Associate Diploma (ARCT) at the Royal Conservatory of Music, showcasing her profound understanding of the art form. The arts have been the guiding force in Alexandra’s journey of self-discovery and personal growth.

After high school, Alexandra sought to challenge herself by pursuing a degree in business at the prestigious Ted Rogers School of Management. Her relentless drive and ambition led her to excel in a Bachelor’s degree in Business Management with a major in Entrepreneurship at Toronto Metropolitan University. Currently, Alexandra is further honing her skills by pursuing a diploma in Audio Engineering & Production/DJ Arts at Trebas Institute Toronto.

As a biracial individual, Alexandra has faced unique challenges and often felt like she didn’t quite fit in. Despite this, she has embraced her diverse heritage, learning more about Chinese and Serbian traditions and drawing strength from her dual identity. Alexandra’s life is a testament to the beauty of embracing one’s differences and using them as a source of inspiration and creativity. We are each like a garden that we cultivate throughout our life. Everyone has their unique beauty. I have always tried to be true to myself, even when it means going against the grain and being different from others. Our diversity amongst us all creates a beautiful mosaic, and Canada is an extraordinary place for the diversity that it represents. As such, to me, having this opportunity with Miss Universe Canada would mean honouring my commitment to the idea that being different is truly beautiful. For me, this is a powerful message that, more than anything, I want to embody so that I can pass it on to others.
