Name one person, other than your parents, who has had the most influence on your life. Why?
My best friend Jordan. She hasn’t left my side since the day I met her. With her also being involved in the pageant industry, she has not only crowned me as her successor but supported me in every way possible. From my personal life to pageant life, she has acted as a true older sister to me. She has not only shown me what it takes to be an influential titleholder, but what it takes to be a good person overall.
What is your proudest personal accomplishment (other than participating in this pageant)?
Finding the strength to be outspoken about personal issues. Battling an eating disorder is never something to be ashamed of but the strength to overcome and battle it openly is a major accomplishment.
What is the most interesting or unique thing that has ever happened to you and/or what is the most interesting thing about you?
The most interesting thing about me is that I learned how to speak ASL before I learned how to read! I learned to speak ASL in grade 1 and 2, because one of my friends growing up was deaf and I wanted to be able to communicate with her. I also grew up with learning comprehension issues which impacted my ability to read.
What is your career ambition and what are you doing or plan to do to accomplish that goal?
My career ambition is to expand my business as a co-owner offering various beauty services. To accomplish this, I plan to continue learning different techniques and styles of makeup to stay updated in the ever-growing industry. I plan to travel and attend beauty conferences to gain knowledge and exposure to new trends. By combining continuous learning and networking opportunities, I believe I can achieve my goal of expanding and thriving in the beauty services business.
What would be your “dream job” in life?
I have always envisioned my future job as one that allows me to embrace my entrepreneurial side. It would provide opportunities to travel and explore new places, feeding my wanderlust. I yearn for a role that keeps me constantly engaged, offering diverse tasks and challenges, ensuring that no two days are alike. This dynamic environment would fuel my passion for continuous learning and personal growth.
Describe where you were raised and what your childhood was like.
I had a wonderful childhood growing up in Lasalle, a beautiful community in Ontario. Being the youngest of two, I was fortunate to have a supportive household and a strong emphasis on family values. Traveling with my brother for his sports created lasting memories and friends. As a gymnast for 12 years, I developed discipline and dedication. Despite being super shy and introverted back then, I have since blossomed into a social butterfly, embracing new connections and experiences along the way.
List any interesting or unusual jobs you may have had.
Co-running my own business is not only fascinating, but it also provides me with a unique opportunity to witness individuals in their most vulnerable moments and play a pivotal role in guiding them towards becoming their most confident and empowered selves.
List any volunteering you have done.
I have had the privilege of volunteering for numerous charitable organizations, including the Canadian Mental Health Association, Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, and the Epilepsy Foundation. Recently, I had the opportunity to participate in Play for a Cure, a local hockey tournament dedicated to raising funds and awareness for the Canadian Cancer Society. Over the course of three days, we successfully raised over $370,000 for cancer research. Additionally, the Bulimia Anorexia Nervosa Association holds a special place in my heart due to my personal understanding of the immense challenges associated with eating disorders
What is your most unusual talent?
I write from a 90° angle. I am left-handed dominant and it is common for left-handed people to write with a slight slant in their paper. However, I have been told that the extent of my writing is fairly unusual.
Where is the most interesting place you have been to?
The most interesting place I have been to is Castillo San Felipe del Morro in Puerto Rico. The fort is actually the location of where one of my favorite childhood movies was filmed. I was young when I visited and I remember being fascinated by the scenery, nature and history of it.
What do you hope to be doing in ten years?
I aim to continue working for myself and have a team to work alongside me. I want to travel and hopefully start a family of my own. Continuing in this industry is incredibly important to me as I want to be an inspiration for others and make a difference in the world.
Is there anything you would like to add that we haven’t asked?
I grew up struggling with school, both the educational and social parts of it. I was extremely shy to the point where my older brother would go home telling my mom that I spent my recesses alone. I was bullied for being quiet, an introvert and my size. I never felt as if I was able to use my voice. As I grew up, I started to believe in myself more and started gaining the confidence to speak up and make a difference. This is what I want to do, I want to make a difference and show others that using your voice is not a bad thing. I spent too much time alone as a kid feeling stuck, I want to inspire others; of all ages to speak up and make a difference.
