Rebecca Drouin is a 21 year-old who was born in Windsor Ontario. Throughout her life she had the pleasure of experiencing the beautiful small town-life in Tecumseh Ontario. Cherishing the simple moments her town brings. Rebecca is currently an aspiring real estate agent working towards receiving her license within the next upcoming year, with a creative desire for interior design as well. She has always been someone who wants to see people’s dreams and visions come to life! “If selling someone their dream house puts a smile on their face, that’s the true beauty of the job” she says.
Philanthropy and community engagement has become an integral part of Rebecca’s life’s purpose, since a young age she knew she wanted to give back to those within her community and make a meaningful impact in the world around her. Pageantry took that passion of hers to the next level. Having previously won a local title, Rebecca has been able to provide and become a role model for the youth within her community. She has continuously advocated for a local non-profit organization known as the United-Way Centraide of Windsor-essex county. Rebecca holds this organization close to her heart. Throughout her childhood she was faced with numerous hardships and access to support was not easy. Those challenges ignited a fire within her to be a guiding light and voice for change for youth in need. Rebecca has learned especially through the power of pageantry that you are never too small to make a difference in the lives of others, and knowing that you have the power to transform with your voice and actions is what allows those to find their inner strength.
Rebecca possesses a vibrant creative side and takes great pride in maintaining a healthy and bright lifestyle. Every day, she uses social media as a platform to showcase her dedication to mental and physical well-being. Recognizing the prevalence of social media today, Rebecca has made it an essential part of her routine to use it as a force for good. She consistently promotes overall wellness. Sharing daily habits that others can incorporate into their lives. For Rebecca, the fulfillment that comes from bringing joy to others is what fuels her life’s mission.
Pageantry has been the most transformative period in Rebecca’s life, throughout the triumphs and the challenges it has allowed Rebecca to grow and evolve into the radiant, empowered woman she is today. Learning and displaying new levels of confidence within herself she is able to project that onto the people around her. Having learned what she has been in pageantry for two-years, she is ready to bring a new and improved version of herself to the Miss Universe Canada stage and is ready to showcase her passions, advocacy, dedication and courage nationally.
Rebecca is beyond proud to have the opportunity to represent Canada, one of her favorite quotes goes “A little girl with a dream, is now a woman with a vision”. She embodies this quote and remember’s how far she’s come to get where she is today.
What are your interests and what do you enjoy doing the most?
Each day I find myself developing a new interest of some sort! Ranging from wellness activities such as yoga, pilates, outdoor walks, rollerblading. Along with my new profound love for cooking. I take pride in maintaining an all around healthy lifestyle. Therefore, cooking my own recipes has been a massive joy of mine.
I also strongly prioritize self-improvement and reading is a part of that journey. With that interest I am taking my creative strengths and working towards writing my own “self-help” book, while creating a podcast series centered around women empowerment, navigating through challenges, and confidence building strategies.
Currently I am teaching myself italian. It has always been an interest of mine to be able to speak the beautiful language. I come from Italian heritage and I never picked up the language. My grandparents immigrated into Canada over forty years ago and I have always wanted to impress them with my ability to speak the language!
My ultimate most fulfilling purpose in life is to make a positive transformative impact on the lives of others. That is truly what I enjoy doing the most above all!
List any special training you have had (music, art, drama, dance, etc.)
From a young age dance was my favourite hobby, I would teach myself dance routines often and it became a strong skill of mine. I was on the dance team in elementary school from grades seven and 8!
In what sports, if any, have you participated?
Throughout my childhood, sports were not easily financially accessible for me and my family. However, I learned to teach myself gymnastics and I took a strong interest in dance.
Around the age of 10-12 I had the pleasure of taking horseback riding lessons offered through a local charity known as Jump Start.
Currently, I am taking an interest in sports such as tennis and boxing. I also want to further my dance experience!
Name one person, other than your parents, who has had the most influence on your life. Why?
One person who had the most impactful influence on my life, other than my parents, would most definitely be my older sister, Jesseca. I say that for several reasons, she is not only my role model and best friend, but is the definition of a strong woman. Growing up watching her when I was a little girl she paved the way, she became my guiding light in life. Jesseca embodies everything a role model should. She is an independent, empowered, resilient, compassionate, and confident woman. Having her by my side has been my greatest treasure and I will be forever grateful to call her my sister.
Not only does she embrace amazing qualities, I have seen her overcome serious hardships and come out the other side with grace and poise every time. Her determination and dedication to her well-being and success in life is truly inspirational. She is creating the life she’s always envisioned for herself. That gives me the power to never give up and allows me to keep chasing my dreams.
She has helped me grow into the strong and confident person I am today and will continue to strive to be. Jesseca is easily the one person who has changed my life in the most incredible ways.
What is your proudest personal accomplishment (other than participating in this pageant)?
One of my proudest personal accomplishments is the journey that has led me to where I am today. “Proud” is an understatement. Reflecting on my past, I see a young girl who, without realizing it, would transform into the woman she is now. Independence was a skill I had to develop early in life, as access to support was often limited. During those challenging times, I often wondered if my life would ever blossom into the dreams I held close.
Amid these hardships, I discovered my inner light and my life’s purpose. This discovery allowed me to transform my reality and create the life the little girl in me had always hoped for. It took courage, strength, and bravery. I have made it my mission to be an example for those around me, embodying compassion and authenticity. I have been able to provide and give back to those in need within my community, understanding firsthand the profound value of support. With this understanding, I have dedicated myself not only to my personal accomplishments but also to my philanthropic endeavours.
I am working towards building a serial entrepreneur lifestyle, embarking on my real estate journey, and leveraging my creative interests through social media to inspire others. By sharing my story, I strive to create change and support philanthropic efforts and community involvement. This includes hosting and attending fundraisers and continuously advocating for organizations that support children in need.
I am at my strongest and most proud when I can make a positive impact. Behind every strong woman is a story that gives her no choice but to rise. My journey is, and will continue to be, my proudest accomplishment in life.
What is the most interesting or unique thing that has ever happened to you and/or what is the most interesting thing about you?
The most interesting/unique thing that has ever happened to me before would have to be when I was a young girl with my Grandmother. Her and I would visit Detroit quite often… on one of our visits at the mall, I was scouted by a talent/model agency. I was 14 years old at the time. With excitement, I embarked on this opportunity. I spent the next three days in Detroit going through back-to-back rounds of interviews with hundreds of other people auditioning for a spot to work with this agency.
I had never been exposed to any sort of environment like that before. However, I fully embraced the experience and went in as my most authentic and truest self. I ended up excelling in the final round!
I believe everything happens for a reason. That unique journey ignited my interest in being more involved from a young age. Now, here I am competing in Miss Universe Canada!
What is your career ambition and what are you doing or plan to do to accomplish that goal?
Finding my career passion took some trial and error, but I’m grateful for the paths that have led me closer to the right one. Creating a life without limits, one that challenges me daily to grow personally and impactfully, and aligns deeply with my values. I strongly believe that the quality of life stems from the freedom of it. Freedom to express creativity and fulfill other’s happiness.
My focus on real estate and interior design drives my pursuit of success. Key strengths like being personable, authentic, and relatable will enhance my career journey.
Currently, I’m diligently working towards obtaining my real estate license within the coming year. I’m proudly developing my online platform, “Wellness with Bec” which promotes mental health, healthy living, and physical well-being. This initiative is a precursor to expanding into my desire to create podcasts and the publishing of a self-help book, where I aim to share my personal insights for a greater and stronger impact in my philanthropic work.
From a young age I have always been someone who takes on new opportunities and pushes to achieve each goal I set for myself no matter how challenging it may seem.
What would be your “dream job” in life?
I strongly feel that my “dream job” in life is already being created. I have discovered my mission in life, and with that I am now doing what it takes to make that dream become my reality. Pursuing my entrepreneurship ambitions while continuously building my platform to create change in the world around me is my dream job in life. Even though I am striving to create my dream job each day, the Miss Universe Canada title would take that dream job of mine to the next level. When I was a young girl I grew up watching pageantry and I envisioned myself becoming a representation of my country one day.
For me, that is the ultimate dream job! With or without the title I will continue to achieve all my goals and aspirations. However, seeing the profound and transformative impact the Miss Universe Canada organization and their title holders are able to make fuels my life’s purpose and further grows that fire within me.
Describe where you were raised and what your childhood was like.
Growing up in a small town shaped my childhood into a simple yet enriching experience. Raised in a household of all girls by my mother and older sister, I embraced both girly glamour and adventurous exploration. My summers were spent outdoors, enjoying activities like biking, rollerblading, swimming, and building stick forts in the woods behind my grandmother’s house with all the neighbourhood kids!
Early independence became a necessary skill of mine as my mother worked tirelessly to support my sister and me. Witnessing her strength and determination to never give up inspired me to cultivate my courage, resilience, and willpower.
From a young age, I was taught the importance of authenticity, kindness, and respect for all, regardless of their background.
Despite facing judgment due to my upbringing and location, these experiences have been pivotal in shaping me into the woman I am today. I cherish my past as it has empowered me to share my courage and determination, uplifting those around me, and giving me a purpose.
List any interesting or unusual jobs you may have had.
During the pandemic, I encountered a series of unique job opportunities. With many businesses closing or planning to close, I needed to be adaptable and confident in my abilities. One notable position I held was a part-time role at Pita Pit. This job was a departure from my usual experience in retail and as a waitress/host. Although it had similarities, it required me to develop new skills, particularly in food preparation and safety. This experience was a valuable learning opportunity, broadening my understanding of the complexities involved in the food service industry. For me, that was the most interesting job I have ever had!
List any volunteering you have done.
My community involvement has been such an incredibly fulfilling aspect of my life. I find a profound purpose in creating positive change for vulnerable children and families in need. I want no one to struggle the way I did and if I can be a part of that small impact as a role model then I am achieving my goals.
Working closely with the United Way of Windsor-Essex County, I have advocated for and supported programs such as the “”Summer Eats for Kids”” and “”Backpacks to Success.”” These initiatives provide crucial support to low-income families and children during critical times. Witnessing their impact inspired me to organize fundraisers like “”Stuff Backpacks this Holiday Season”” in December 2023, which successfully gathered substantial school supplies for donation to the United Way.
In addition to these efforts, I have volunteered and organized various fundraisers, including events for Big Brothers Big Sisters, the Breast Cancer Foundation, The Leukemia bottle drive, SOS Children’s Village, and other local charity events. Each event has contributed to raising awareness and funds for meaningful causes in the community, along with causes that I hold close to my heart.
Being a part of such inspiring change has been a privilege, allowing me to witness firsthand the joy and impact of community support. I am dedicated to expanding my platform and extending my philanthropic efforts globally, one step at a time, towards greater collective goals.
What is your most unusual talent?
My most unusual talent would have to be when I taught myself the basics of gymnastics at the age of 11. I became fascinated with gymnastics at such a young age but my Mother could never afford to put me in lessons. I took it upon myself to teach myself the basics!
Where is the most interesting place you have been to?
Having only travelled to three countries, I’m making it a life goal to see more of our beautiful Universe someday! However, I would have to say the most interesting place I travelled to would be Joshua Tree National Park located in California, USA.
This place was nothing that I had ever seen before, it was incredible. This trip was very spontaneous and it was just my sister and I. We both agreed we wanted to explore this beautiful park and we happened to be the only ones in the entire park at the time!
The scenery was breathtaking. Rocky caves, cactuses, palm trees, surrounded by nature. Visiting such an incredible national park sparked the desire in me to want to experience all the other magnificent places and cultures I have yet to see.
What do you hope to be doing in ten years?
In ten years, I envision myself standing at the peak of my career endeavours, in real estate sales, interior design, digital content creation, and overall fulfilling the aspirations of my multi-versed career path with tireless dedication. Beyond the success in my career goals, my true triumph and legacy will lie in my philanthropic endeavours, where my passion for giving back will have transformed countless lives. I will be empowering individuals and uplifting entire communities. I hope my journey will include the incredible life-long dream of Miss Universe Canada.
I strongly believe I will prove to myself and to others day in and day out the true essence of an impactful and transformative role model and I can only imagine the positive change I will have created in 10 years from now! If Future me could see me now she would be impressed because I am taking the actionable steps to create my dreams.
Is there anything you would like to add that we haven’t asked?
What do I want people to remember me for?
I would say I want people to remember me for my ability to light up any room with laughter and joy, no matter the circumstances. I tend to be the friend or family member that everyone comes to when they are feeling down because of my ability to make them feel seen and valued with my empathic nature. It usually results in them bursting into laughter with my humorous personality.
I believe in the transformative power of a smile, but beyond the laughter, I always lead with compassion. Demonstrating each day that a kind heart combined with a joyful spirit can truly change the world around us in the most magical ways!
