Sara Levitt

Sara Levitt

Height: 5’2
Hometown: Montreal, QC
Languages: English, French
Occupation: Influencer, Model, Marketer

Sara Levitt was born and raised in Montreal, Canada, where she continues to proudly call home. A Canadian citizen, Sara has lived with Crohn’s Disease since the age of three and underwent life-saving Ostomy surgery at just thirteen. For years, she hid her condition out of shame and fear of stigma, but today, she stands as a bold advocate, public speaker, and trailblazer in the chronic illness community. A graduate with distinction from Concordia University’s John Molson School of Business, she holds a Bachelor of Commerce in Marketing and was nominated as one of 2022’s Amazing Women in eCommerce.

Her advocacy began only a year and a half ago, when she publicly shared her medical journey for the first time. Since then, she has built an online platform that uplifts, educates, and inspires, helping others living with chronic illness or visible differences reclaim their confidence. Now a content creator, model, marketer, writer, and keynote speaker, Sara is an ambassador for the Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation and Hollister Incorporated, a columnist for HealthCentral, and a volunteer with Friends of Ostomates Worldwide Canada—an organization committed to restoring dignity by delivering critical Ostomy supplies to individuals in developing and war-torn countries.

Sara became the first Ostomate to walk New York Fashion Week and to be featured in Maxim Australia, proving that beauty and strength can coexist with medical devices and scars. She has walked multiple runways in Montreal for LaSalle College Fashion Department, as well as Dallas Swim Week and Miss Bikini USA, with her Ostomy styled into her looks—challenging outdated beauty standards and pushing for true representation in fashion. She’s collaborated with brands like Ardene, La Vie En Rose, Steve Madden, Hoaka, Florastor, and Saje Wellness, and her work has been featured in TIME Magazine, CityNews Montreal, CTV, Yahoo, CJAD, and more. Sara’s mission is rooted in inclusivity, diversity, and representation. Through every step she takes—on and off the runway—Sara proves that difference is not a weakness but a superpower.

Q&A

What are your interests and what do you enjoy doing the most?

I’m passionate about photography and content creation. There’s something magical about capturing moments—not just to remember them, but to truly relive them. What I love most is inspiring others to embrace their authentic selves and helping them build confidence along the way.

List any special training you have had (music, art, drama, dance, etc.)

When I was younger, I played the electric bass guitar. I was so tiny back then—it looked almost as big as me, which made it even funnier!

In what sports, if any, have you participated?

I used to ski competitively—it was a big part of my life growing up.

Name one person, other than your parents, who has had the most influence on your life. Why?

My older sister, Jade, has always been my compass and sounding board. She gives the best advice, helps me see things clearly, and guides me in making meaningful decisions—she’s been there for everything.

What is your proudest personal accomplishment (other than participating in this pageant)?

Advocating for others and making a meaningful difference in their physical and mental health is something I’m deeply passionate about.

What is the most interesting or unique thing that has ever happened to you and/or what is the most interesting thing about you?

The most unique part of my story is that I’m missing my colon and rectum, and have an Ostomy bag. These differences have shaped my inner strength more than anything else and have carried me through life’s journey.

What is your career ambition and what are you doing or plan to do to accomplish that goal?

As a visibly different creator, model, and speaker, I’m committed to growing in these areas—proving that differences don’t limit what we can achieve. My goal is to collaborate with larger brands to create a greater impact on the world. Beyond that, I’m passionate about building a foundation to support people with chronic illnesses and visible differences. With everything I do, I pour in my full passion and determination.

What would be your “dream job” in life?

My dream is to become the founder and creative impact director of a global foundation that empowers people with chronic illnesses and visible differences. I want to create a strong, supportive community through online initiatives, accessible events, adaptive group trips, and fundraising efforts that directly improve lives. As a visibly different creator, model, and speaker, I’m already challenging outdated narratives—but I want to expand that impact. I envision partnering with inclusive, purpose-driven brands as a consultant and ambassador to help reshape representation and visibility. At the core of everything I do is a deep passion to prove that differences don’t limit us—they make us powerful. This isn’t just my dream—it’s my mission.

Describe where you were raised and what your childhood was like.

I was born and raised in Montreal, Canada. As a kid, I was always dancing, singing, and playing dress-up—I’ve loved fashion and all things glamorous from a very young age. My parents divorced when I was three, which came with its own challenges, but ultimately it strengthened my relationships with each of them and with my sister. It also blessed me with two younger half-sisters, something I’m deeply grateful for. At age 11, I was diagnosed with Crohn’s Disease and spent two years in and out of the hospital until I had life-saving ostomy surgery at 13. As an adolescent, I missed out on a lot and struggled with shame and self-esteem issues because of my condition. I went through high school, college, and university without ever truly feeling “seen” or like I belonged. Now, I’ve made it my life’s mission to ensure that no one else who shares a similar journey feels alone or invisible. I want everyone to know they are seen, valued, and never alone.

List any interesting or unusual jobs you may have had.

One of my first jobs in marketing was digitizing medical forms in the basement of a hospital. While the work wasn’t the most exciting, it felt deeply fulfilling knowing I was helping to make medical processes more efficient—ultimately helping patients get the care they needed faster. I’m grateful for the opportunity and for working alongside a supportive team during that time.

Where is the most interesting place you have been to?

Saint Maarten is truly breathtaking—every corner of the island captivates you. The people and culture are incredibly warm and welcoming. The beaches boast crystal-clear blue waters, and the food is absolutely delicious.

What do you hope to be doing in ten years?

By then, I would love to have a family and to have written and published a book sharing my story—one that helps others navigate their own journeys. I also hope to establish my foundation that supports people with chronic illnesses and visible differences, creating a strong community through activities, conversations, online initiatives, organized trips, and fundraising efforts to make a real difference in their lives.
