Victoria Gangadeen is a proud delegate for Miss Universe Canada 2025, born in Canada and residing in Durham, Ontario. With roots in Guyanese and Panamanian heritage, she is a passionate advocate for cultural diversity and inclusivity. Victoria holds a Bachelor’s degree in Political Science and has completed her LLB, with aspirations of becoming a lawyer dedicated to justice, equality, and human rights. Her advocacy work spans from working with political leaders to promoting policy reform, always with a focus on uplifting marginalized communities.

An active member of Amnesty International, Victoria is deeply committed to human rights and social justice. She serves as a student representative and council member at her law school, helping to shape inclusive policies that support student well-being. In addition to her legal and advocacy pursuits, Victoria is an entrepreneur and founder of a health and wellness business that provides outreach programs for youth, seniors, and vulnerable populations.

Victoria is also a multifaceted artist—working as a model, singer, actor, certified yoga instructor, and sound meditation specialist. She uses her platform to promote empowerment, especially for women and girls, and to champion mental, emotional, and physical well-being. Her work is rooted in compassion, purpose, and a belief that true wellness encompasses both people and the planet.

As a Miss Universe Canada delegate, Victoria aims to inspire others to lead with empathy and integrity. She envisions a world where every individual, regardless of background, feels seen, heard, and empowered to create change.

Q&A
What are your interests and what do you enjoy doing the most?
 

I have a deep passion for fitness, yoga, Pilates, and overall wellness. These practices not only keep me physically strong but also support my mental clarity and emotional balance. I also enjoy singing, modeling, and expressing myself creatively through writing and reading. Whether it’s journaling personal reflections or immersing myself in a powerful book, I find joy in the way words can inspire, heal, and connect.

List any special training you have had (music, art, drama, dance, etc.)

I have received special training across a variety of disciplines that reflect both my creative and academic passions. I am a certified yoga instructor and sound therapist, and I hold a Lexis legal research certificate. Academically, I have earned a Bachelor of Arts with Honours in Political Science and I am completing my LLB Honours in Law. I also attended a performing arts high school where I was part of the theatre program, taking on lead roles in several musicals. In addition to my performance experience, I have training in music production and songwriting, and I enjoy producing and writing my own music. I also played competitive volleyball on a league team, which strengthened my skills in teamwork and discipline.

In what sports, if any, have you participated?

I have participated in several sports and physical disciplines that have shaped my strength, discipline, and focus. I played competitive volleyball on a league team, which taught me teamwork and perseverance under pressure. I also completed a yoga teacher training program, which deepened my understanding of body awareness and mindful movement. In addition, I regularly practice Pilates to maintain core strength and overall physical wellness.

Name one person, other than your parents, who has had the most influence on your life. Why?

One person, other than my parents, who has had the most influence on my life is Angelina Jolie. From a young age, I was deeply inspired by her humanitarian work and global advocacy. Her commitment to causes such as refugee rights and international justice motivated me to join Amnesty International and begin advocating for human rights myself. She exemplifies how beauty and influence can be used to create meaningful change in the world, and her ability to balance a successful career with a life of impact continues to inspire me.

What is your proudest personal accomplishment (other than participating in this pageant)?

One of my proudest personal accomplishments is completing my law degree with honors. This achievement reflects my dedication to hard work and my passion for justice. Additionally, becoming a certified yoga instructor and launching my own online yoga classes has been incredibly fulfilling, allowing me to support others in their mental and physical well-being. I am also proud of my ongoing advocacy for mental health awareness, which I’ve pursued through community involvement and public speaking. Furthermore, writing and producing my own music has provided me with a creative outlet and a way to connect with others. These diverse accomplishments reflect my commitment to personal growth, empowerment, and making a positive impact.

What is the most interesting or unique thing that has ever happened to you and/or what is the most interesting thing about you?

One of the most unique and interesting experiences in my life has been the opportunity to blend seemingly different passions—law, wellness, and the arts—into a meaningful personal journey. While completing my law degree with honors, I also became a certified yoga instructor, taught classes and wrote and produced my own music. This combination has helped me develop a strong voice not only in academic and professional spaces but also in creative and wellness communities. I think what makes me unique is my ability to connect with people across different walks of life and use those connections to inspire, advocate, and lead with compassion.

What is your career ambition and what are you doing or plan to do to accomplish that goal?

My career ambition is to become a lawyer specializing in human rights and criminal law, with a strong focus on mental health advocacy. I want to use my legal training to protect vulnerable populations, challenge systemic injustices, and help ensure fair and compassionate treatment within the justice system. To achieve this, I have completed my law degree with honors and continue to gain experience through volunteer work, advocacy initiatives, and public speaking. I also remain actively involved in community programs that promote mental wellness and social equity. By combining my passion for justice, mental health, and human rights, I hope to be a strong advocate for meaningful change both in and out of the courtroom.

What would be your “dream job” in life?

My dream job is to be a human rights and criminal lawyer by day, and a creative force for change by night. I see myself in a career where I’m not only defending justice in the courtroom, but also using my voice through public speaking, songwriting, and wellness advocacy to spark conversations that matter. Whether I’m drafting legal arguments, leading a yoga class, or writing lyrics that inspire hope, I want every part of my work to reflect my passion for empowering others, breaking stigmas, and creating a world that is both fair and compassionate. My dream is to live at the intersection of justice, wellness, and creativity—and make a lasting impact from every angle.

Describe where you were raised and what your childhood was like.

I was raised in a supportive and close-knit community where family, culture, and compassion were deeply valued. My childhood was filled with creativity, encouragement, and a strong emphasis on education and giving back. I was always encouraged to explore my interests—from performing arts to sports—and my parents instilled in me the importance of empathy, resilience, and using my voice to stand up for what I believe in. Those early experiences shaped the person I am today: grounded, passionate, and committed to making a difference in the lives of others.

List any interesting or unusual jobs you may have had.

One of the most interesting jobs I’ve had was working with the Premier’s office and several Members of Provincial Parliament. These roles provided me with invaluable insight into how policy is shaped and allowed me to actively engage in community outreach and advocacy efforts. I also teach yoga classes, which has been a fulfilling way to promote wellness and connect with people from all walks of life. These diverse roles have deepened my passion for leadership, advocacy, and creating a positive impact in the world.

List any volunteering you have done.

I have volunteered at a homeless shelter, where I assisted with organizing resources and providing support to those in need. Additionally, I’ve contributed to various campaign offices, helping with outreach and event coordination. I am also an active member of Amnesty International, advocating for human rights and social justice. At my law school, I serve as a representative on the student council, working to improve student experiences and foster a supportive community.

What is your most unusual talent?

One of my most unusual talents is cooking and creating my own organic wellness products. I love experimenting with healthy recipes and natural ingredients to make everything from homemade skincare products to nutritious meals. It’s both a creative outlet and a way to connect with the principles of wellness in a hands-on way. I find joy in crafting products that are not only good for the body but also for the environment, aligning with my passion for holistic health.

Where is the most interesting place you have been to?

One of the most interesting places I’ve been to is England, where I had the opportunity to live as a student. The experience of immersing myself in such a rich cultural and academic environment was both eye-opening and inspiring. From exploring the historic landmarks to connecting with people from all over the world, living in England broadened my perspective and deepened my appreciation for diverse cultures. It was a time of personal growth and learning that shaped both my academic journey and my outlook on the world.

What do you hope to be doing in ten years?

In ten years, I hope to be a successful lawyer specializing in human rights and criminal law, advocating for justice and mental health reform. I also envision myself continuing to empower others through wellness practices like yoga, combining my legal expertise with my passion for holistic health. Additionally, I hope to be deeply involved in community advocacy, possibly in a leadership role, and using my platform to inspire and create positive change. Ultimately, I want to make a meaningful impact in both the legal field and the broader community, helping to shape a more just and compassionate world.

Is there anything you would like to add that we haven’t asked?

One fun fact that I’d love to share is that I’m a huge advocate for finding balance in life—whether that’s through a good yoga session, a spontaneous dance party in my living room, or experimenting with a new recipe. I believe that life should be enjoyed, and I try to bring that joy and energy into everything I do. Plus, my dogs are my unofficial workout buddies, always ready to join me for a run or a relaxing yoga stretch!
