Twenty-one year-old Ashley Avery of Clarenville, Newfoundland & Labrador, has been chosen by the Miss Universe Canada organization to represent Canada at the 2012 World Miss University competition in Seoul, Korea, from November 28-December 16. (Final compeition to take place on December 15)
The World Miss University is a competition for university students, with
focus on environmental and global issues, academic standing, public speaking and volunteer work.
Ashley competed at Miss Universe Canada in 2010, placed in the top 20 and won the People’s Choice Award. Ashley is a fifth-year Bachelor of Administration student at Memorial University, is on the Dean’s List, and has received numerous scholarships.
Ashley’s national costume for this event was created by local designer Isabel Tavares, and was inspired with a maple leaf concept.
