NJ.com: The senior residents at St. Ann’s Home for the Aged in Jersey City were all smiles Thursday when they received a special visit.
Serena Bucaj, who was named Miss New York for the Miss USA competition last month, visited the Old Bergen Road nursing home to hand out carnations and to spend some time with the residents.
The beauty pageant winner from Rockland County, New York, spent her teenage summers at the nursing home as a volunteer.
“There’s nothing more amazing or humbling than seeing the looks on the senior citizens face when you come in,” said Bucaj. “A simple gesture like giving out flowers, like the way I did today, can mean so much to one person. It may be something little to me and you, but to them it’s the world to see a girl with a crown and a sash, almost like a princess, coming in.
